Patti Labelle Defends Christina's Anthem Performance

Music legend Patti Labelle rushed to the defense of Christina Aguilera after that botched Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl.

"Christina went through something there. That's one of the best singers in the world, for her to mess up a lyric, don't hold it against her," says Labelle.

Christina Aguilera & Co. Rehearsing Grammys' Performance

Jennifer Hudson Talks Grammy Aretha Franklin Tribute 'I'm like on cloud nine,' Hudson says Of Rehearsing For The Franklin Medley With Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride And Other Stars

The fivesome powered through a medley of Franklin's hits that will open the 53rd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
The Staples Center rafters rattled as the group belted out "Natural Woman," before each diva took on their own Franklin tune. Aguilera went first with "Ain't No Way," McBride was up next with "Until You Come Back to Me," Welch followed with "Think," Jennifer Hudson tackled the iconic "Respect" and Adams rounded things out with "Spirit in the Dark." The ladies all closed with the empowering "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves."
"Dreamgirl" Hudson and Brit songstress Welch were clearly having a good time onstage, bumping hips and improvising their own two-steps.
Minutes after the rehearsal, Hudson spoke to MTV News about the tribute.
"Rehearsals are going, and went, very well," Hudson said. "It's a lot of fun, and just being amongst the other ladies and being around some of my favorite artists, and then tributing Aretha Franklin, it's just like surreal. And it's a moment you just have to take in and enjoy it, and I'm like on cloud nine just in that moment.
As far as the monumental task of deciding which song to select from the Queen of Soul, the decision, it turns out, wasn't Hudson's problem.
"They were chosen for us," she admitted. "I know that had to be the hardest job because Aretha has like catalogues of music. And I remember when they asked me to submit a list and I'm like, 'Oh my God! Where do I start?' "
You'll have to tune in Sunday night to see how the divas pull it off. And don't forget to catch our special Grammy correspondent Snooki, who will join Sway on the red carpet for our two-hour live stream on MTV.com, starting at 6 p.m. ET.

Signed Agreements On Aguilera/Bratman Divorce

Five months after she filed for divorce, Christina Aguilera's divorce from husband Jordan Bratman has taken a giant step towards being finalized.

In a filing to the Los Angeles District Court, the pop star's music executive ex declared he had no intention to dispute the split, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Citing irreconcilable differences, Bratman, 33, filed his petition and told the court the pair had "resolved" their property, assets and debts, "by signed agreement".

The couple have a two year-old son, Max; Bratman stated the pair had privately come to agreement about custody.

Previously, Aguilera, 30, had sought joint legal and physical custody.

Bratman, who is represented by Bruce A. Clemends, lists the date of separation as 'TBD' -- one key difference from the Dirrty hit-maker, who in her court filing last October, stated the split occurred on 09/11/2010.

Aguilera and Bratman married in November 2005.

They met in 2002 while Jordan was working for Aguilera's music management company.

CNN: Christina Aguilera does know the words to the national anthem

Okay, so Christina Aguilera did a lyrical switch-up while performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

But let’s think back to happier times, when she belted out “The Star-Spangled Banner” at both Game 6 and Game 7 of the NBA finals last summer.

See? She DOES know the words!

As she said in a statement, last night was just a fluke.

“I got so lost in the moment of the song that I lost my place,” the 30-year-old singer told CNN. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of it's anthem still came through.”

Christina scored an impressive 65 per cent of the votes, bolstered no doubt by her branching out into movies and that sizzling performance on the X Factor final. Gorillaz were in second place while Sade, Craig David and Tom Jones made up the rest of the top five.

Christina Responds To National Anthem Fumble

Christina Aguilera has responded to the discussion over her fumble of the lyrics to the National Anthem during her performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 6).

"I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place,” Christina shared in a statement to JustJared.com. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."
Instead of singing the line “o’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming,” Christina sang “what so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming.”
