"The Voice" To Focus on Coaching Not Judging
Grammy-award winner Christina Aguilera says she's excited to be part of the new NBC musical reality show "The Voice" that promises to emphasize raw voice talent over style and performance.
"Honestly, this gives us an opportunity to judge them solely based on what we hear and how we're moved by their voice or the emotion in their vocal ability, and I'm thrilled to able to experience new talent in that way, which is a way I'd never seen done before," Aguilera told ET at a press event Tuesday.
Three other famous musician coaches will join Aguilera on the show -- Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, country artist Blake Shelton and singer/songwriter Cee Lo Green. The coaches will each select singers to mentor into artists during blind auditions. Once they have their teams, the star coaches will bring in their personal songwriters, producers, and high-powered friends to help their teams evolve. Ultimately, America will decide which singer will be worthy of the grand prize.
When asked whether she'll mind being the only women coach on the panel, Aguilera said: "I will be a little bit nervous, I'm sure. It's going to be so strange, you know, I'm going to be on the hot seat with these boys, it's me and the boys, seriously. But they better watch out, you know, I'm going to get my own team to come in and mentor whoever I take under my wing."
Levine said this show will be "refreshingly different" from what has already been done and will not focus on the stars, but the new talent. "It's not about us, really, I mean it's more about making everybody we're working with the best they can be. We are kind of helping them become that. And they paid us a lot of money too, that's nice, that doesn't hurt."
The host of "The Voice," Carson Daly, said he's been astounded by the level of talent he's seen that will be appearing on the show. "I was here yesterday and I was blown away. It's really top-notch stuff. We're starting with some of best voices I've every heard."

Christina Aguilera's New Perfume: Secret Poison
On March 3 Christina did a photo shoot for her new perfume, Secret Potion. Her son Max was on set with his mom, an insider close to Christina tells Life & Style.
"He wasn't feeling good, so she wanted to take care of him and make sure they were together," the insider reveals."She's trying to spend as much time as possible with him while she works, so Max brought his toys and played with his little cars while she did the shoot."
This is one of the many perfume launches for Christina, her last was Royal Desire released in September 2010.

Christina Aguilera Leaving SmashBox Studios, Recording New 'I Am' Video?
Christina Aguilera was ready to put her drunken arrest behind her and get back to work last night as she started filming her new music video.The singer was spotted leaving Smashbox Studios in Hollywood in a little black robe and jumped into a limousine to head home, which marked her first public appearance since being arrested early Tuesday morning.
Despite her bad start to the year, the 30-year-old singer had a cheeky grin on her face as she slipped out of the studio.

But not even Christina’s mahogany lipstick could disguise the trouble in the singer’s personal life.
The mother-of-one faced an embarrassing arrest for public intoxication earlier this week, because she ‘was not capable of taking care of herself’.
Her arrest came amidst U.S. media reports saying the star’s friends have been encouraging her to enter rehab for some time.

Christina Aguilera Has Joined "The Voice"
Christina Aguilera is coming to NBC.
The five-time Grammy winner singed on as a coach/judge on Mark Burnett’s singing competition series The Voice.
That makes three spots on the show filled by celebrity singers so far, with Xtina joining Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine. Aguilera was first reported as in talks for the show exclusively by EW last week.
“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it,” Aguilera said in a statement. “To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to The Voice.”
Though launching any music competition series at the same time Fox’s American Idol is on the air remains perilous, the lineup gives NBC some heavy hitting star power behind its show — and adds to Burnett’s impressive roster of reality casting coups (anybody who can sign Sarah Palin and Christina Aguilera for reality shows is a casting wizard).
“When I decided to produce The Voice, I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera,” Burnett said. “Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of The Voice.”
That Aguilera has been all over the news lately — and not for her singing — doesn’t exactly hurt the show’s prospects either. Aguilera’s recent arrest for public drunkenness, stumbling onstage at the Grammys and botching the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is the kind of unpredictability that makes for must-watch reality TV (see, Paula Abdul on American Idol).
The Voice premieres on Tuesday, April 26.
